This is to let you know that I was informed several weeks ago by Mark Larson, Airports Manager for San Mateo County, that he will be retiring around the end of the year. Mark has made enormous contributions to aviation in his 25 years as a county employee including over ten years as Airports Manager. Before that he held other positions at SQL.

We all owe him a huge debt of gratitude for many reasons including the completion of the Airport Master Plan; building the first hangars in 30 years; getting the Airport financially stable; building the safety stopways; and fixing the infrastructure at the Airport (runways, AWOS, drainage, etc.) with over $10 million in FAA grants; plus, building a stellar relationship with airport neighbors.

In working with Mark, he has always been professional, responsive and cooperative. I know we’ll all be sorry to see him leave.

The Board will organize an appropriate public thank you and will let you know when that is scheduled.

Sincerely,
Carol Ford
President of SCAPA
