AOPA’s Joseph P. Crotti Award for General Aviation Advocacy in California is named in honor of Joe Crotti. Mr. Crotti was a longtime Chief of the California Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics. Subsequent to his retirement from DOT, he became AOPA’s first Western Regional Representative and was instrumental in the development of the Regional Representative program.

The award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to general aviation advocacy in the state of California. It is awarded on an irregular basis but no more frequently than once per year. Recipient selection is by consensus of the Western Pacific Regional Manager and AOPA Government Affairs staff.
